To stop violence against women one must start educating the new and young generations. Teaching young sons and daughters how to behave with respect to each other as people, with respect to all individuals, must come from the parents, just as now the parents are the ones who are instilling old fashioned beliefs of women as property, and using violence and fear to enforce that belief.

I sign for a stop to the violation of human rights for all, but particularly women and children who are often exposed to atrocities compounded to the that of men. Women are left to look after the family, elderly parents/sybilings and generally extended members of the family as men go to war (justified or not). It is never ok to violate the human rights of an individual and as a society we must continue to voice injustices. My ongoing concern in any conflict spot is that whilst war exposes added violations to womens safety, peace time also presents violation to womens safety often from domestic and family violence which is NOT RIGHT either. Additionally, we must continue to voice the systems violation which although suttle is nontheless there eg. women who are raped and find the courage to speak up are often re-traumatised by the legal system; the use of holy scriptures (Koran & Bible) to keep women in their place etc.
