About Tibet and oil

No one has consciousness can tolerate the crimes committed by the Chinese regime in Tibet . Any repression is a crime whoever the perpetrator or the victim . Recently western media concentrated on the brutal response of Chinese police to the demonstrations in Tibet ; but was it really the only significant repression happened recently ? It became a tradition of us , we Arabs or Muslims , to accuse any media coverage of such incidents to be biased , favoring pro-western regimes , Israel as the classical example . In fact although this is true I want to take pains to be more innovative here . I would like to refer to , not only the famous pro-western tyrants , old and recent , in Chili , Indonesia , and the Apartheid in old South Africa ; but also to a regime that is considered as an important ally of west , even a pillar of the capitalist western hegemony in middle east , and even th whole world , that is the Saudi regime . This regime was responsible for organizing , and supporting , Islamic political , and military , movement during cold war and used it against local and international communism and Arab nationalism . Jihadists were only the logic result of these efforts , that times they were pointing their guns and their suicide bombers against the main enemies of the capitalist west ; that made them "freedom fighters" according to President Reagan . In 9/11 11 out of 15 perpetrators came from Saudia Arabia , and the mastermind was a Saudi one . But Bush administration focused on secular Iraqi regime instead . Even in occupied Iraq , Saudis militants constitute the biggest national part of the foreign jihadists , but US officials went on accusing Syria and Iran . To be fair , we have to admit that the Saudi regime , like its similar twin in Pakistan , is trying its best to contain the evil they created before . But as this conservative Islamic religious institution was used in the fight against the communism and Arab nationalism , it played also a crucial role in strengthening the regime and was the only source to support its legitimacy . It proved that it is not a disposable thing like the tyrannies that were simply discarded by US when they became a burden on its policies and interests , Ex-Shah of Iran and Suharto as examples only . This institution is deeply integrated in the government s bureaucracy and so influential , especially in the press and media . In Saudia Arabia , and other Arab gulf states , there are millions of foreign workers that are exploited and treated very harshly , even in inhuman way , deprived of their basic rights . But capitalist democracies seem to deal very carelessly with such treatment . Western media cannot cover any demonstrations there , not because the repression here is less than anywhere else . For those who value human beings , their sufferings and freedom ; it does not make any difference if the perpetrators are pro- or anti-western , this does not make China a good place for its inhabitants , but for sure it makes media focus on it just a hypocrisy .
