LONGING RAGES OVER ME
By Mahmoud Said Kawash

These roses, and among them is a beautiful one,
She poured her passions upon me.

Brunette girl, dressed in coquettishness,
As if a gazelle swaggering among the roses.

She walked with her beauty and stature,
Like a nightingale whose braids are fragrant.

The heart is infatuated with her and madly in love with her,
Confused, its incense burners burn with sorrows.

O smile of perfumed hope in my mouth,
Your memory flows, and my worries are confused.

Longing rages upon me, and you are far away,
And passion whispers its secrets in the eyes.

I am alone with the tormented star. confused
And your rosy imagination has confounded its poet.

The intoxicating ecstasy, your lips, and the glow,
The wine of desires roars its rage.

How often your imagination has wandered in my dreams,
Wandering intoxicated, weaving its feelings in imagination.

To share the sighs of the guitar,
And bring good tidings to the sad lover.

O sweet-eyed one, O magic song,
My cup of passion has melted, scattered.

Did you not nurture my affection, O flower,
In its transparent veil you appear enchanting?

O heart, leave blame alone,
For the lover has led his armies to estrangement.
