Ethics and Spirituality: From the Shackle of the -Unseen- to the Horizon of -Matter and Freedom-

There is a long-standing historical illusion that ethics and spirituality descended via "metaphysical parachutes" upon societies lacking in values, and that "faith" is the sole guardian of security. However, a close reading of human evolutionary history reveals a completely different reality: morality was never a religious invention-;- rather, it was a material necessity born of the struggle for survival. It evolved alongside shifts in the means of production and economic relations.

Matter as the Root, Religion as the Garment

Early human groups established values like honesty, cooperation, and justice as "technical conditions" for the continuity of life. A society where members lied to´-or-killed one another without restraint was a society economically and socially doomed to extinction. What religion did later was merely "frame" these objective human needs, dressing them in a sacred garment that linked compliance to a system of celestial reward and punishment. This was done to ensure the stability of the social contract in eras that lacked the authority of civil law.

Alternative Spirituality: The Rise of Art and Beauty

When an individual s material needs are met and their economic dignity is secured, "spirituality" begins to take more noble and sincere paths. Spirituality, in its essence, is a search for meaning and self-transcendence. This transcendence is not confined to traditional prayer rituals-;- it finds its peak in music, literature, poetry, and dance. These arts are the "new temples" where humans practice a "secular devotion" that connects them to absolute beauty, far from the rigidity of religious texts.

The Inevitability of the Economic Engine

The transition from "Ethics of Compliance" (based on fear of metaphysical punishment) to "Ethics of Freedom" (based on conscious choice and personal responsibility) cannot be achieved through cultural preaching´-or-education alone. Structural economic change is the sole and primary engine. Without a solid material foundation that liberates the individual from the slavery of want, morality remains merely a utilitarian survival strategy´-or-a forced social hypocrisy.

Toward a Sincerer Morality

True and sincere morality is that which springs from free choice, not from metaphysical awe´-or-the greed for a deferred reward. In societies that guarantee material sufficiency for their citizens, art transforms from an "elite luxury" into a popular spiritual practice, and ethics become a "civil contract" we uphold because we recognize its aesthetic and practical value in building a gentler world.

Conclusion:

The path to the "heavens" begins with the Earth s reformation. Once humans are liberated from the pressures of matter, their insight naturally opens toward sublime spiritualities. Morality is not a shackle imposed by the Unseen-;- it is the fruit of material maturity and complete human freedom—where an individual becomes "good" because they choose beauty, not because they fear fire.
