Two new poems
Mahmoud Said Kawash

MY BLACK BOX

It is my hiding place of my endlessly sprawling parts
It is my smile, my tears and the pain that resides inside me
It alone holds my sighs and pains
Which penetrate me, refusing to commit suicide on the surface of my features that have hardened from the accumulations of salt
It alone swallows my tears that carry my silence
It alone holds within its blackness thousand secrets, thousand sighs and pain
It alone wears that dark cloak to hide the password between him and me
It handed over its secret key to the malicious, envious, spiteful ones
So they invaded my fortresses
And penetrated my weak points
The circle of my darkness narrowed
And a bright light penetrated me
A light that cleared from behind those cylinders to condense around me
The walls of my solidity cracked against the days
The waves of drowning touched the banks of my still shores
I was stripped of my deepest secrets
My sadness and pain overflowed me
Their hands settled between me and it
Left me to gather my parts and some vanishing threads like me
It took few hours and the walls of my impregnable city collapsed
It took few hours and my black box opened
Oh death that has been wandering around me for a long time, here is your approach
Come closer and immerse me
All that remains is for you to carry out your mission and everything will end!!

DON’T BLAME ME
If I come bearing some reproach to you
And I am lost in the cities of loss
Searching for a light that guides me to your eyes
No, rather a path that takes me to your arms
But I want you more than that
Not because it is my right
All the right is night’s
To be alone among you
So don t blame me
If I am satisfied only to close my eyes on you
