The best books serving humanity and revealing misleading secrets

By Mohamed Rabie

Who am I?
I am a retired professor, was raised in a refugee camp, one of a family of 9 living in one tent. studied in Palestine, Egypt, Germany, and America, have Ph.D. in economics-;- scholarships financed my education journey. I lived a life no human has lived´-or-can live, because some of the times I lived had come and gone and cannot come back again. I taught at 11 universities on 4 continents, published 60 books in Arabic and English: books on economics, politics, culture, history, conflict resolution, philosophy, racism, novels, and poetry. True intellectuals cannot stay in one area because issues that shape mankind s history and man’s destiny are interconnected.

The Global Debt Crisis and Its Socioeconomic Implications: Creating Conditions for a Sustainable, Peaceful, and Just World
By Mohamed Rabie

What is my book about?
This book reveals the magnitude of global debt-;- how much the rich states owe, how much the poor states owe, and how much the poor are paying to service their debt to the rich states. It then articulates a visionary plan to free all nations from the debt burden in one day without costing a nation´-or-bank´-or-taxpayer one cent, and without increasing the global supply of money by one cent. The plan also creates 4 global funds: Environmental sustainability fund, Education fund, Humanitarian fund, and Sustainable development fund. All of which are in the service of humanity. These funds will create millions of new jobs, but never need more money to finance their activities.

Washington Rules: America s Path to Permanent War
By Andrew Bacevich

Why this book?
This book shows that America, since its inception, has followed an imperialistic policy to dominate the world-;- it built the strongest army in history, and the most advanced military industry. To project power and be able to intervene anywhere, America built about 750 military bases overseas in 80 countries. However, America’s relative decline due to China’s rise, lead America’s policymakers to transform many states into failed states that cannot control all their territories, weak for America to dominate, but unstable to create headaches for their neighbors as the cases of Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and Yemen demonstrate. America’s military budget for 2023 is -$-858 billion, the equivalent of 1/3 of the combined gross domestic product of the 54 African countries. Does this scare you,´-or-comfort you?

21st Century Capitalism
By Robert L Heilbroner

Why this book?
This book was published after communism collapsed. Heilbroner doubted America’s intention to reform the market system, he saw a new society emerging that does not believe in the promise of progress. Heilbroner saw the communist collapse as giving corporations the opportunity to control the economy and reshape society. As I wrote in my books, the communist system was politics’ last attempt to control economics, therefore, the collapse of communism allowed large corporations and banks to control the political process, corrupt politics, and politicians, and control global wealth. The latest report by Oxfam says that since 2020, the richest 1% of the world’s population took 63%´-or--$-26 trillion of the global wealth, leaving %37´-or--$-16 trillion for 99% of the world’s population.

Gambling with Armageddon: Nuclear Roulette from Hiroshima to the Cuban Missile Crisis
By Martin J. Sherwin

Why this book?
This book reveals the secrets of the 1962 Cuba missiles crisis when America discovered that the Soviet -union- has installed nuclear missiles in Cuba. President Kennedy imposed a siege on Cuba. The American military and the CIA were eager to launch a nuclear war against Cuba, but neither Kennedy nor Gorbachev, the Soviet leader wanted to start a war. Kennedy and Gorbachev exchanged letters, Gorbachev made his letters public, Kennedy kept his secret. Gorbachev asked for an American commitment not to invade Cuba and to remove its missiles from Turkey. Kennedy asked Dean Rusk to in-dir-ectly suggest to UN Secretary General to call for removing the Soviet missiles from Cuba in exchange for America removing its missiles from Turkey. And this is how the crisis ended.

God: A Biography
By Jack Miles

Why this book?
Believers in God see him as the creator of man and women in his own image. Firm believers tried throughout history to model themselves as they imagined God. But God, the author says, evolves through his relationship with man, and man becomes rival to God. So believers and non-believers discover that God, the protector of the poor and weak, becomes a warrior who nearly destroys all humans and animals he created by causing the flood. So rational people realize that God is a tribal chief who gets angry, kills, destroys, loves some and forgets many more. This book is a must-read for all believers and non-believers. I found this book unusual in telling amazing stories about God and his actions and reactions.

A History of Knowledge: Past, Present, and Future
By Charles Van Doren

Why this book?
A History of Knowledge is a treasure that invites everyone to explore and enjoy. It recounts the history of human progress from primitive times to the 21st century. Van Doren covers the history of ideas, inventions, civilizations, ideologies, and issues of justice, war, and slavery. Almost no famous thinker, emperor, philosopher, inventor,´-or-artist is not mentioned, and his contribution examined. These are two of my favorite quotations-;- “Our fathers started the revolution, and we are still living it. We could not stop it even if we wanted to.” “The rich are never rich enough... to have enough is simply to be content with what you have. When wanting comes first, you can never have enough. If contentment is placed first, it does not matter how much you have.”
