The National Bureau for defending land and resisting settlements ( nbprs ) stated in its latest weekly report that , as the Israeli general elections draw near, the higher the pace of using colonial settlements as a platform to exert pressure on both the government and the opposition to raise the ceiling of pledges and promises to accelerate and expand construction in the colonial settlements on the one hand, and to legitimize the outposts established by terrorist cells on the other hand. Benny Gantz and Benjamin Netanyahu are to faces for a coin. The former pledges, as we indicated in the previous weekly report, to the settler leaders, during a meeting with a delegation of them, that he intends to approve plans to build hundreds of settlement units in the settlements in the near period ahead of the Knesset elections, while the second t sponsor settlement associations and sign a document in which he pledges to the settlers to respond to their demands and accelerate the pace of construction in the settlements.
Within the context, the “Reboniot” settlement association collected the signatures of 55 members of Knesset from the opposition parties in the Israeli right, led by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and with him the current Minister of Interior Ayelet Shaked, in which the signatories commit themselves to work after the Israeli general elections to expand settlement construction in occupied West Bank.

On the other hand, the settlement lobby that pressures on the Israeli government to not ratify the cultural agreement with the European -union- because of its exclusion from settlements. Significant damage to any Israeli attempt to reach agreements with the European -union- in the future. The Israeli government was scheduled to ratify this agreement last week.
Because of the agreement s exception to the settlements, the alternative prime minister, Naftali Bennett, opposed ratifying the agreement at the request of Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, and used the veto power granted to him under the coalition agreements. This agreement allows Israeli producers, in the fields of cinema, literature and the arts, the possibility of receiving grants from the European -union- in amounts amounting to hundreds of millions of euros.

Moreover, settlement activities, Judaizing measures and attempts to obliterate the true identity of Jerusalem continue. Minister of ‘Jerusalem Affairs’ Ze ev Elkin recently decided to allocate NIS 2.5 million to ‘renovate and save’ a historic street located in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, named Cardo Street.
It is subjected to non-stop Judaizing in order to erase its features and falsify the ancient history of the Holy City, after cracks appeared in it due to excavations and tunnels conducted by the “Elad” settlement association under the neighborhoods of the Old City, especially in the southern area of the Moroccan Gate and the Umayyad Palaces, where a special engineering report submitted to the Israeli Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage revealed that there is a -dir-ect danger of the collapse of the street, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of Jews and foreign tourists every year.
