Do not ever be a servile surrenderer!!
Poem by: Mahmoud Said Kawash
Realizing that I was about to leave
She fervently and warmly asked me to stay longer
I said to her: I would like to stay forever sweetheart
Because no matter how long our meeting is
It will not be enough to express the love I have for you
But I’m afraid of “envious eyes” which might catch us together
I fear for you, lovely resident of my heart
This fear has no equal among lovers
I fear for you from the cold weather in the evening
I fear for you from the birds’ loud peeping
I fear the pigeons and their murmuring in the sky
And their cooing if it increases and bothers you
I am even afraid of an envious angel
Jealous of your slender body when it tilts and bows
I am more affectionate to you than the dewdrop
And more affectionate than the breeze at dusk time
Impossibility among beloved ones is permissible
Do not assume that I am saying something impossible
But listen my angel once, just once
Do not surrender to love as a servile surrenderer
Do not ever be a servile surrenderer
Honey tastes sweet even when it is little
Longing no matter how much needs little sweet
See you, my soul, tomorrow´-or-after
Seeking neighborhood and beautiful friendliness
