Narration alone is insufficient and counter-productive

This is my response to Mr. Ritha Althahire’s article
http://www.ahewar.org/debat/show.art.asp?aid=175347, a response which was meant originally to be a comment, but since he had chosen not to have comments on his article, I feel compelled to have it published as a short article in this section. Incidentally, I think comments are a democratic exercise that enriches interactions and improves our understandings of what is going on. Hence, blocking comments is neither useful nor comprehensible.
I think the title of your article would have been more to the point if it were phrased differently, like ‘A country plagued by bad politicians’, since there must be politicians responsible for the tragic stories you narrate, or not?
Most importantly, I believe that narrating stories is insufficient. Narration of stories, without suggesting actions, would only serve venting bottled-up, negative feelings, but does nothing to change a terrible reality. On the contrary, it maintains the reality by desensitizing us to its bitterness, and the narration thus becomes counterproductive.
I say these things because the article is published in a party’s paper. Hence, I think articles like yours should go much further and suggest solutions to the miserable reality described in your article.
The role of the party and its media is to make suggestions and effect solutions, rather than limit itself to recount narratives. The party whose newspaper carries your article is still a part of a government the article, implicitly, holds responsible, partly or totally, for the tragedies of Iraq now. The question is: Has the party’s participation in this government made any difference in terms of improving the bitter reality. If the answer is ‘yes’, we need to see the evidence, and if the answer is.’ no’, then we need to ask why doess the party insist stubbornly on riding a sinking boat? And please do not tell me it is more complex than a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. The party is sinking along and the article is a piece of evidence; since how could we expect solutions from someone who is sinking?
