Is the Islam a religion of peace?

By Freeyad Ibrahim

In light of continued acts of violence committed in the name of Islam, it is hardly acceptable to describe de Islam as a religion of peace.
Even the peaceful majority of Muslims do not show signs of condemning the global Islamic jihad that is being fought in their name. On the contrary, the jihadist violence is actually quite popular among the Muslims worldwide. Most Islamic states still enshrine sharia , Islamic law. A constitution established more than 1400 years ago by the prophet Muhammad.
Taking for granted the veracity of the portrait of the prophet himself , being wise enough to dissolve disputes between the warring clans, championing of the welfare women and children and the poor, his modesty-;- living as an equal among his people and etc…But that is not the matter. The question is: how many sharia countries give the people a chance to be free, both in word and deed? Almost all Islamic law countries do not encourage liberty, equality, democracy. On the contrary, they run contrary to what Muhammad said.
