Gazans cant evacuate ... why?

Like a broken record, the question plays over and over again in each Gazan mind, for what sin could one had done to get his children abused, buried alive, injured, traumatized,´-or-become homeless.

War has no logic, silence is utterly ugly, and finding justification to war crimes is blatant immorality. For 11 days the mounting violence against the civilian population in Gaza Strip has collected nothing but innocent souls, & demolished nothing but civilian facilities including houses, colleges, hospitals, and infrastructure.

Israel in the last few days has ordered many Gazans living in the eastern parts of the city´-or-living in the northern town of Beit-Lahia to evacuate and move to the center of Gaza city. But in the city with no shelters the question is: evacuate where?

Gaza Strip is one of the densest areas in the world, as 1.8 Million inhabit 360 KM2. The Strip has been besieged since 2006, since then sanctions have been imposed on what is allowed inside to Gaza, vital building materials were not allowed. The tragedy is yet to start as the house´-or-facility destroyed today needs years to come to be rebuilt. Lack of building materials isn t the only face of the same devil, the siege has caused severe in GDP and economic growth, many Gazan workers have lost their jobs in several industries, many businessmen went bankrupt. The majority of Gaza s population can t currently pay for a rent, so brothers with their children might rent one house for several families. In Gaza life is different, the line between life and death is as tiny as the vulnerability of the local economic system. The majority of house owners are haunted by large amounts of dept. A demolished house with a 15-20 years dept to the bank is more than what ordinary man in Gaza can stand, it could be the end of the future of that owner s children, lack of modern insurance services is a major issue in the strip.

These facts show the humanitarian crisis is yet to start the day guns are put down, war victims after ceasefire sometimes has more tragic stories than those who pass during it. In 11 days of continuous violence, more than 694 houses were completely destroyed and about 1692 were partially damaged to different levels. Gaza people are left helpless, unable to pay for the rent, and if they have enough funds, it is difficult and less likely they would find an available house´-or-apartment.

The majority of the population has a pretty bad experience with evacuation. In 2008-2009 operation Cast Lead witnessed Israel targeting civilians who evacuated to UNRWA schools using white phosphorus, the memories and images of the incident leaves the population wondering: evacuate? Déjà vu?
