DI Attended The Telenor Culture Prize 2013

A delegation from Defend International attended the Telenor Culture Prize 2013 at the Oslo Concert Hall on Tuesday 03 September. President of Defend International, Dr. Widad Akrawi, congratulated the prize winner, film -dir-ector Hisham Zaman, for his achievement, creativity, and for his ability to transforming human suffering into art forms that are relevant and reflective of our diverse world.

A record 1500 people attended the Telenor Culture Prize 2013 at the Oslo Concert Hall on Tuesday 03 September (19.00- 22.00). Entitled "Boundless Communications," this prize is regarded a key component of Telenor s extensive cultural program. This year, film -dir-ector Hisham Zaman was awarded the Telenor Culture Prize for his "unique ability to combine the art of film-making with an exceptional talent for communication."

A delegation from Defend International attended the ceremony, which included a reception, musical entertainment (e.g., Oslo Camerata Chamber Orchestra, E-SEAN Quintet, Margrethe Fredheim, Frank Havroey, Torgeir Koppang, Joner/Tavares/Bastiansen, Villniss, Heidi Ruud Ellingsen, Nicolai Cleve Broch), solo dance (Navid Rezvani and Andras Bratli), and the Prize ceremony. The seven-member jury (Kjersti Alveberg, Lars Saabye Christensen, Thorbjoern Harr, Asta Busingye Lydersen, Ingrid Kindem, Cecilie Broch Knudsen, and Kai Rosenberg) praised the prize-winner s humanistic values, and his award-winning films, such as "Bawke," "Winterland," and "Before Snowfall." It bears noting that Mr. Zaman graduated from The Norwegian Film School at Lillehammer in 2004, and his film Bawke (2005) has received more than 40 national and international awards, including an Amanda.
