Dancing Around The Bucket

The room smells and reeks of a crude and foul odor ... Its guests are regular, committed and punctual ... A maid arrives at dawn, and sweep the room clean with hot water and soap ... The lady of the house spreads the carpets and sofa covers .. A reciter blesses the room with suitable verses and incense ... Visitors flock .. The Mayor, his Deputy, the Sheriff, the Shahbandar and the doctor .. Fabulous dinner with all specials and delicacies is brought in. As the chatter starts, all issues are rehashed; News of the capital .. Cabinet reshuffle, .. Iraqi war and America .. .. Women and the gender revolution, progress on the draft of a new constitution .. the virginity of girls .. pending election, latest fatwas and clerical rulings, appropriateness of calling the Name of God Almighty in oath.

Minor guests excuse themselves and retire back to their homes. Only very close friends remain … and the real fun starts, dancing and singing .. whiskey and dope, .. poker and deals .. eventually someone lifts the bucket lid a little, and the special guests begin to leave one after the other ... The last guest puts the lid back on the bucket and pulls the door shut.

No one in the village dares to move the bucket!
