A PKK female freedom fighter , who survived the chemical gas attack launched against them, tells the story:
( During the days 22 -24 month October, the Turkish military forces had bombarded the valley (Tiyari) using chemical weaponry altogether with the bombs which are forbidden according to international law like napalm bombs. As the result ( 36) of the Kurdish fighters were killed.
One of the female freedom fighters called ( Nobilda Nangain) told the satellite channel ( ROJ TV ) :
( the fighter jet planes had bombarded the area fiercely and furiously with napalm and chemical bombs for (3 to 4 ) hours continuously.
And the gas emitted from them caused inflammation and burning to the respiratory system. This was the position until short before dawn.
And by the daybreak the Copra planes ( -vertical circle- warfare helicopters) and artillery started the heavy and fierce shelling . And we, guided and judging by the smell, felt that Turkey had really used chemical weapons and napalm bombs because our comrades had been killed in the same way earlier.
This female freedom fighter went on saying that ( the Turkish armed forces had launched their offence using their full power and military equipment: like jet fighters, ( Copra) helicopters and heavy artillery. Yet the casualties among the (PPK-fighters) remained limited. That is except for a great number of the wounded and the injured .
Then she added : ( we realised that there were chemical weapons used against us because of the strange smells hanging in the air.)
(Fortunately ) we were near a river and could, therefore, cover our noses and mouths with damp cloths .
But the rest of our comrades were far away from the river and met martyrdom as a result of the chemical gas attack.

she explained further : ( Thick clouds of smoke billowed upward and spread through the area which hindered the march of the comrades to progress further. Their eyes were tearing and they were (nauseating).
This in spite of the fact that we were about 1500 klm away from the spot, yet we could smell it , it was strong enough to reach us, and it smelled (tasted) sweet. We felt a severe burning in our chests when we breathed, and the tears were pouring down our eyes. Despite we tried to get away from the place but the smell was still tracing and chasing us as yet.
Then this female freedom fighter ( FFF) adds: (no fierce battle took place between us and the Turkish armed forces there...the fighters who were killed were killed by means of chemical weapons. I had seen two corpses of my comrades , but the degree of burning and injuries of their bodies caused by napalm bombs was so high and severe that it proved very difficult, almost impossible, to identify them !
We were a group of two or three people, because we were in the state of walking, and all at a sudden, we were bombarded by napalm. I thought they were, as usual , shelling us with artillery or rockets.
But this time the assault was not like the previous attacks because when the bombs dropped and collided with the ground then exploded we felt a blistering scorching heat carried to us through dust and dirt falling on our heads.
After the ongoing shelling we got suffocated , I could not breathe any more, then I felt something had hit my breast …we were all breathing with utmost difficulty. Because these bombs and rockets were filled with chemical substances! Thereafter, I lost all power existed in me , and I collapsed, fell almost unconscious. Yet I tried to roll down into the lower level of the place. As I awakened I continued walking forward.
This fighting girl, who was in the accompany of 4 other freedom fighters, had to stay reluctantly for two days in a place beyond a range of 200 m away from the other freedom fighters( FF) who met the martyrdom by means of the poisonous gas.
In the third day they were able to escape the place, obsessed by the constant feeling that the deadly smell had spread all over the area.
This girl says: ( the bombs used in the assault smelled of pears and apples, and we could smell it from a certain distance.)
Thereafter we, I and two comrades , entered the River and soaked our bodies in the water, and when we reached our comrades they offered the First aid and bandaged my wounds.
At this moment I feel better. And this is the first time I feel the effect of such a weapon. If they had not used chemical weapons , such a great deal of comrades would not have met martyrdom!
Finally the she- fighter said further: ( if the enemy had not used the chemical weapons, our comrades would have fought even if they were wounded , and they could have possibly escaped the place and consequently escaped the death.
We are powerful and possess strength and capacity.
(Undoubtedly) what the Turkish army had done is not a ( traditional) war, but merely a (cowardly) use of ( untraditional) chemical weapons*
