A number of my friends and my readers ask about the situation in Syria. They ask because the situation in a country like Syria is very complicated, and it is Hafez Al Assad s main ( achievement ) !.
The majority of Syrians, even those who take part in the demonstrations against the regime, fear the future if the regime collapsed.
Outside powers, also fear the future including USA, of course. For me, nothing in Syria encourage me to not declare myself as (Dissident) ?.

Reasons For Opposition
Destiny in Syria is linked with your loyalty to the regime. And since Ba ath party took over Syria in 1963, the Syrian people could do nothing for their future. After 1963, poor people are not able to demonstrate against their poverty! Rich people – also – are not able to demonstrate against their situation as a class which own money but has no aspects of luxury! This formula which decreed unofficially since 1963 when Ba ath party took over Syria, is not ready to face the changes in the Syrian society, that if we take into account a number of changes in each class and each component, without forgetting the change in the structure of the regime itself.
Of course, the totalitarian regime in Syria expresses, not the will of persons like Hafez Assad, Amine Alhafez, Salah Jded and Mustafa Telas to being a dictators, however, the dictatorship in Syria expresses and reflects the Syrian society incapability to solve its problems and to turn crises into creative future. When the Syrian bourgeoisies declared its incapability to governing the state as a modern civil state, and by the other hand, the labors and land farmers declared, also, their incapability to take the power of the country, then, the atmosphere for dictatorship was prepared very well, and the stage for dictator s appearance is also ready, so, the role of Ba ath party in 1963 was only to solve this problem!.

For those who talking recently about the causes for being an opposition activist, the answer is very simple; I will never talking about freedom of speech and press nor the human rights which is violated for the last 50 years! Also, I will never say any thing about corruption nor our bad economy planning. For statistics, I want to use its papers in my toilet, so the regime has no need to talk against me economically!.
The only two points I will indicate to, are IMMIGRATION and ENVIRONMENT; yes my friends : I am an dissident for those above mentioned reasons!.

How want me to not being dissident while the regime has been (Exporting) our men outside for more than 40 years?.
I wonder, how this regime and its supporters do not feel a sense of shame, particularly when hearing about more than three- million Syrians who live abroad; mostly, in tragic, bad and inhumane Circumstances.

Syria is a wealthy country, and no need to go abroad for work! One-third of Syrians have many stories to tell, about their feelings when they are away from families. How many children born and, maybe, grow old without seeing their fathers until years later?. How many fathers sleeping unhappy because of remembering their children. they know ,that they will never be able to see them without earning money from hard-labor in states and cities very faraway from motherland!.
At last, How many women who sleeping right now in all Syrian cities and towns, dreaming a hug and kiss from their husbands? Instead that, they hug their eye-drops and kiss their pillow!.

Another reason, for being dissident, is ENVIRONMENT ISSUE. All Syrians are proud of cities like Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama and many other historical cities. but, Did any of you see the amount of damage that took place in our historical wonderful cities? Did you notice that our cities are similar to each other?.
For instance, if we decide to visit Damascus, the world s oldest continuously inhabited capital, we will see a city rarely different from other city in the world!. While, in the past, exactly before Ba ath party coup of 1963, Damascus was different from other cities, it was has its private features. historically, no poet, writer, novelist or musician of those who had visited the city were able to leave without writing a poem or arranging a music about the beauty of Damascus.
Through history, Damascus enjoying three features: Barada River which walk down the city in seven places like veins of body, old wonderful amazing architectures and the surrounded bushes and farms which is called GHOTTA. And today, Barada River is getting drought: You Can See No Cold Pure- Water But Drainage Water!.
Trees and farms that surrounded Damascus also fade a day after day. Old houses and streets which located in old-Damascus suburb also fading. Unfortunately , The Ministry of Tourism c do nothing to stop destruction of those oldest houses in the world!.
I blame the Syrian regime for those disasters because if it let us demonstrate or strike for Barada, old-Damascus suburb and trees of Ghotta, then, Damascus would keep its beauty which we should enjoy it, not vandalize it!.
Demonstrations and strike are prohibited in Syria since Ba ath party coup of 1963. many times, I had decided with my friend to protest, once in front of Ministry of Tourism, to notify them about the damages in old-Damascus suburb. Other time, in front of Ministry of Environment, to demand restore Barada River and to clean its watercourses. both attempts failed, and my activists friends and I served about three hours answering the security forces, after arresting us, about our motives and about our disagree with policies of environment and architecture heritage that Ba ath party and the regime adopt and planning to.

I think that is enough, after all, no need for talking about disasters in Aleppo or other places in Syria. We are DISSIDENTS because we need to improve our life, we want to solve our problems without any guardianship. Syria wants its citizens, not its herd. So, opposition in Syria is not luxury nor heresy.
